AESOP’S FABLES

This illumination belongs to a French manuscript created for Charles V of France. The richly-gilded panels represent four of the many fables written by Aesop. From the top left: the Wolf and the Lamb, the Frog and the Mouse, the Fox and the Crow, and the Wolf and the Crane.
